When Modern Warfare 2 first came out, it was not long before it was known as one of the best 1st person shooters to exist. It was not perfect, not by a long shot, but it was fun.
Something else special about this game was the mission No Russian. In the mission, you play an undercover C.I.A agent. The mission requires you to be a terrorist and you go in an airport and proceed to kill everyone in sight. At the end of the mission, you are killed by your “allies” because they knew you were undercover. This ends up setting up the Americans and throwing the world into turmoil. This was the mission that began a world war.
It is true, there will never be another mission like No Russian, ever. That one mission drove that story. It was not just mindless killing either. It puts you in a position where you have to be terrible for the good of the world, but in the end, you fail. You murder innocent people and security guards just trying to do their jobs, but you need to the stop, bad guys. It really makes you feel like a piece of crap because, in the end, it did not matter.
It really had me between a rock and a hard place and you lose no matter what.
I brought this mission to attention because Infinite Warfare is coming and well the COD community has already disowned it, but you know what else is coming? The Modern Warfare Remaster and everyone is celebrating. This is just a friendly reminiscences of what was and what will continue to be one the best.
Hey, Digital Adventurists, at least you won in the end, right?
